When drilling wells in some newly discovered blocks, in order to promptly and accurately discover new oil and gas reservoirs, underbalanced drilling operations are always implemented to maximize developing the reservoirs.
For depleted oil and gas reservoirs that have been exploited for years relying on natural energy, the pressure coefficient of the oil and gas reservoirs is extremely low. To further develop the remaining reserves, underbalanced drilling operations are also used to achieve this goal.
As low-density underbalanced water-based drilling fluid, AQUAMUL® oil-in-water drilling fluid system presents both characteristics of water-based drilling fluids and oil-based drilling fluids. It is mainly used to solve some problems related to reservoir protection for low porosity and low permeability reservoirs, as well as underbalanced drilling in deep wells.
The AQUAMUL® is a type of oil-in-water emulsion formed by dispersing a certain amount of oil in fresh water or salt water with different salinities. It consists of water as the continuous phase and oil as the dispersed phase, with low or ZERO solids content.
Key features and advantages
Stable and high thermal stability performance with adjustable rheological properties, low filtration loss and enhanced down hole integrity
Prevent and reduce lost circulation
The density can be adjusted below 1.05 g/cm³, reaching as low as 0.83 g/cm³. Compared with foam drilling fluid and air-injected drilling fluid, its cost is lower. No modifications to the existing drilling equipment are required.
Reduce the bottom hole pressure difference with improved mud rheological properties. Maximize ROP and minimize the soaking time of drilling fluid and completion fluid on the oil and gas layer.
Thin and smooth mud cake quality can reduce the friction of the drill string, thereby reducing the risk of pressure difference stuck and minimizing NPT. A preferred option for directional and horizontal drilling.
Mud properties can be easily adjusted and maintained as its simplified formula.
The density is lower than that of ordinary drilling fluid systems. During underbalanced drilling, it causes minimal damage to the reservoir and is conducive to oil and gas layer protection, improving recovery rate.
Recyclable and suitable for batch drilling operations.
¬ 1ppb = 2.857kg/m3, 1ppb = 1g/350ml
¬ Add defoamer as required. This may be essential in salt systems
¬ The system can be adjusted to low or ZERO solids content based on mud weight requirements
¬ Pilot testing should be performed to determine the exact amount of each product used in a particular formulation under elevated temperatures
To ensure that the fluid formulation truly meets your required specifications, SHARK's expert will work with you to pilot test the fluid before fully deploying it as part of your drilling program.
